Beaver County Library System Policies |
The following information will acquaint you with policies
adopted and used
by all public libraries in Beaver County.
If you need further assistance or have any questions, please see your library staff.
Borrowing Policies

Any person living or owning property in Beaver County may register for a
free library card.
Non-residents of Beaver County are welcome to:
1. Use their Access PA Library Card
OR
2. Register by paying an annual fee.
Your library card is valid at all libraries.
Library cards are renewed every 3 years.
A verifiable written form of identification, including current
address, is needed to apply for a library card.
Children under 16 are eligible for a library card with parental
signature and identification.
Resident students attending a Beaver County college may
register for a 1 year library card with proper student
identification.
Library cards are not transferable.
Borrowing and Returning
Materials may be:
borrowed for 14 days
renewed at the library or by telephone
returned inside the library or book drop
Please note:
Loan periods for currently popular and non-book items may vary
Non-book materials may not be returned in book drops
Costs
Lost or damaged library card - $2.00
Each overdue item - 10 cents per day
Each overdue video - $1.00 per day
Maximum fine per returned item - $10.00
Maximum fine per item not returned - replacement cost
Inter-Library Loan
Materials not owned by Beaver County public libraries may be
available
from other libraries.
Please note:
Renewals are not permitted on these items, and $1.00 per day will be charged
for each overdue item.
Current materials and historical, genealogical or reference materials are
usually not available from other libraries.
Internet Policies
Eligibility & Procedure
Internet access is available to patrons who have a current Beaver County
Library System card or an Access PA sticker on their home library card, which
has been entered into our automated system.
Before you can use the Internet, you must sign an
"Internet Usage Agreement."
1. Patrons under the age of 18 must have parental permission.
2. Forms are available at each library and must be signed in person by
the parent.
3. K-6 grade patrons must have an adult sitting with them at the
computer at all times.
Please sign in when you begin your session and sign out when you
are finished.
Usage time is limited to 30 minutes when other patrons are waiting.
Please be considerate.
Only two patrons may use a computer at a time.
Please note:
You should be familiar with Windows and a Web browser before you
use the equipment.
Cost
Internet computer usage is free.
However, there is a per-page
printing charge
to offset the cost of ink and paper.
Usage
Problems with the computer or printer should be reported to a
staff member immediately. Misuse of the equipment is prohibited.
Downloading and outside diskettes are not permitted on these computers.
These computers are to be used for
educational, informational and recreational purposes.
They may not be used for unauthorized or illegal purposes.
Viewing "obscene and other sexual materials and performances," as defined by
18 Pa.C.S.A. 5903, is not allowed.
It is the patrons' responsibility to use discretion in viewing Internet Sites
and Web Pages.
The Library Staff reserves the right to ask a patron to discontinue use
of a site.
Disclosing personal information on the Internet is strongly discouraged.
The library will not take responsibility for any damages that may occur from
doing so.

Other eligibility and usage is at the discretion of the individual
libraries.
